Macknade Fine Foods teams up with Reading Fairy for half term magic

A food hall is feeding minds as well as little tummies with half term storytelling sessions.

Macknade Fine Foods in Faversham has teamed up with early reading experts Reading Fairy.

Bringing together Macknade's love of good food and Reading Fairy's passion for storytelling the sessions will also be used to launch new in-store activity sheets to engage children shopping with their families.

The four free story-telling sessions feature The Runaway Pancake and The Little Red Hen and are aimed at children aged one to six years old. They take place on February 13 and 14 at 10am and 11.15 am.

The new activity sheets, which will be launched half term week along with the story sessions, aim to get children to explore the produce sold at Macknade and think about where their food comes from.

Emily Guille-Marrett, founder of Reading Fairy, said: “Healthy eating and learning to read are critical to a child's future life chances and well-being. We have been running Reading Fairy classes for pre-school children at Macknade since day one and hope our free events this half term will inspire children to love both good food and stories!"

Rosie Collins, Marketing Manager at Macknade Fine Foods, added: “We have been working
with Emily since she founded Reading Fairy and it’s been wonderful to see it grow.

"We are thrilled to be teaming up this half term in the hope of sparking plenty of enthusiasm from young children about reading and of course, great food and eating.

"We already work with a number of local schools to educate young children about food and nutrition and run daily classes for the little ones in our events space, so it is an exciting next step for us.”

The story sessions are free and will take place in the events space above the Café at
Macknade Fine Foods. Sessions run for 45 minutes at 10am (for babies and toddlers) and 11.15am (for children aged 3-6 years). There is no need to book.
