Over the years it has been observed that some individuals fail to blend into the spirit of the group work and in some cases where the individuals are engaged in the group work it does not seem to be fruitful. This is true both for formal study groups at schools and universities, corporate world and yes, the family life. Some would say, ‘they are set to fail from the start’ or ‘naturally some should fail’. But what is the reason behind this? If such occurrence is natural, surely it can be recognised and/or predicted, and hence, can also be omitted. This lecture will give an insight into the Belbin personality types and Myers-Brigs Type Indicators followed by an applicable framework that can be used to compile successful groups which will bypass storming and norming phases set to perform from the start.
