Apple shop at Bluewater Greenhithe launches children's summer camps

by Lauren Abbott

Computer whizz kids are being invited to join Apple summer camps at the tech giant's Bluewater store.

From July 16 until August 4 Apple is running its annual Apple Summer Camp.

Suitable for children aged between 8 and 12 it enables youngsters to take part in hand-on projects at Apple stores across the country.

In Kent, the nearest store taking part is the Apple shop in the Upper Mall of Bluewater Shopping Centre in Greenhithe.

For 90 minutes per day for three days, campers will be immersed in their chosen subject.

Among them will be coding with Sphero robots, during which children will be taught coding concepts and practice problem solving skills before partnering up for fun activities in which they can programme their Sphere SPRK+ to change colours, create sounds and complete challenges.

They can then apply the coding skills they've been taught to design their own games.

Coding with robots is not the only summer holiday activity taking place at Apple in Bluewater.

Kids Hour: Creating Music with GarageBand will show youngsters how to create tunes and beats on an iPad before using Live Loops to make their own track. This hour-long lesson is suitable for children aged six to 12 and participants can either bring their own iPad or one will be provided.

And for budding film directors there is the chance to make movies with a kids hour dedicated to practising basic camera techniques and shooting footage using iPad Pro.
