You're never too old for Beatrix Potter. To mark the 150th anniversary of the children author's birth, head to Leeds Castle for a new family day out. They'll be displays around the castle to bring back the magic of Beatrix's tales, including an interpretation of her writing desk complete with paints and brushes.

Make a day out at Dreamland extra special at the Frosted Fairground. The Margate attraction's winter wonderland will feature vintage rides, yuletide treats and even a pop-up panto. As always, Dreamland is free to enter and everything is on a pay as you ride basis.

Rochester will transform into a Victorian haven for the traditional Dickensian weekend. There'll be plenty to see and do including shopping, a lamp lit parade, carols and a chance to meet Father Christmas. The kids will love pointing out the roaming street performers.

Join The Ascot Arms for a weekend of festivities. On Friday evening, Santa will kick of celebrations by arriving in time for the lights switch on and carols. Kids will able to visit him in his grotto on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is the crafty day for families, including wreath and card making. Go along Sunday to meet a real reindeer and walk around the Christmas market. For parents mulled wine is available all weekend!
