The Wards Children's Awards returns for 14th year

by KentOnline reporter

It might be hard to believe, but the Children’s Awards are now in their 14th year.

Thirteen incredible evenings have gone before us, not to mention 13 incredible groups of children, carers, charities and fundraisers who support some of the county’s most courageous people.

Each event has brought to the county’s attention a raft of brave and inspirational youngsters – children who these awards were launched to celebrate.

It was in 2003 when estate agent Ward and Partners was first approached by the Kent Community Foundation to become involved in an awards ceremony which intended to recognise the outstanding achievements of young people in Kent living with illness or some form of disability.

Having always been avid supporters and champions of such causes, the firm leapt at the chance to come on board as organisers, together with the KM Group as media partners.

The rest, they could say, is history. But for those involved with the Children’s Awards for more than a decade – from its relatively small start to the major event it is now – they are unlikely to ever forget the names and faces which have touched their hearts.

And this month, we opened the search for the 14th group of lionhearted young and their supporters, with the help of an additional category, as we attempt to make the event bigger and better than ever before.

There are now seven categories open for nominations – including the new award for courage and bravery.

Please take two minutes to enter someone who you think is deserving of recognition.
