Primary school children have until Friday to enter a writing contest for the chance to be the boss of Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone

by Liz Nicholls

This week could take a dramatic turn for one wannabe writer who will win the top job at a major theatre for a day.

That is the star prize for a creative writing competition that is out of this world. To enter, youngsters must write about which superhero they would like to walk to school with and why. But time is running out as entries must be received by this Friday, June 30.

The competition is part of the KM Year of Reading and run by the KM Charity Team who organise green travel and literacy services for schools.

Martin Cleverley and Michelle Woodland from Hazlitt Theatre which is offering a top prize to the winner of a writing contest for children.

Entries should be handwritten on an activity sheet called ‘To infinity and beyond’ and delivered to KM Charity Team, Gazette House, 5-8 Estuary View Business Park, Boorman Way, Whitstable, Kent CT5 3SE, or scanned and emailed to Sarah Clyne at sclyne@thekmgroup.co.uk. Submissions will be judged on creativity, awareness of the benefits of green travel, and quality of handwriting.

The child who pens the best piece of writing will enjoy a VIP behind the scenes look at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone, from rehearsals to production and marketing meetings, and possibly even take in a show.
