Secondary school applications for Kent County Council and Medway Council
Families with a child due to start secondary school next September, have until Halloween to complete their applications.
Both Kent County Council and Medway Council require secondary school application forms to be submitted by Wednesday, October 31.
In Kent, online applications close at midnight, and for families living in Medway the cut-off time to submit a form is 5pm.
Among those applying for places at Kent and Medway’s schools will be thousands of pupils who passed this year’s Kent and Medway Tests.
The Kent Test was sat by 16,656 pupils aged 10 and 11 in September, with 7,706 of those consequently assessed as eligible for a grammar school place in the county according to the results which were released in mid-October.
In Medway, 3,265 took the examination at the start of the school year and 1,687 passed, which was 200 more than achieved the required score last year.
In Kent families can apply through Kent County Council for up to four secondary schools - putting them in order of preference.
Families living in Medway must apply through Medway Council but can name Medway and non-Medway schools on applications.
Under Medway Council’s secondary school application process, up to six schools can be listed in order of preference.
All families will find out on National Offer Day - March 1 next year - which secondary school they have been allocated.
