Buster's Big Bash staged at Dane John Gardens, Canterbury on Saturday, May 6

Families can join in a free mini festival of fun and a double record attempt on Saturday, May 6.

The annual event, Buster’s Big Bash, is being staged at Dane John Gardens, Canterbury from 10am. The half day festival is organised by the KM Charity Team, which runs green travel and literacy services for schools.

Youngsters will enjoy brainteasers, physical challenges including space hoppers, pedal go-karts and circus skills, plus stalls and entertainment. Every child who completes their challenge sheet will be rewarded with an attraction voucher.

The action-packed event includes an attempt to create a record breaking walk to school column through the city centre as well as the county’s biggest teddy bears' picnic.

Hundreds attend each year so organisers are advising families to book their free tickets without delay. The first 300 children to check in on the morning will receive a goody bag and there are lots of prizes up for grabs on the day.

Buster’s Big Bash celebrates the success of the KM Charity Team’s walk to school projects as well as Buster’s Book Club, a scheme encouraging pupils to develop a love of reading.

The green travel and literacy projects are supported by Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Medway Council, Bexley Council, Three R’s teacher recruitment, Specsavers, Eurostar, Bel UK, Volker Highways, Countrystyle Recycling, Golding Vision, Kent Libraries, Kent Reliance, Orbit South, Gallaghers Aggregates and Whitefriars.
