Babygrow that helps parents perform CPR: Launched in Kent by St John's Ambulance

by My Kent Family reporter

It's the emergency parents fear the most - their baby stopping breathing.

Now, a babygrow designed to help parents revive their child if the worst happens is being launched in Kent.

The onesie, which has CPR instructions on it, will be launched by St John's Ambulance in some Tesco stores in Kent this week.

The colourful babygrow features a reminder from Humpty Dumpty of the five puffs and 30 pumps, followed by two puffs and 30 pumps parents need to give their baby should they stop breathing after they have called for an ambulance.

There are also instructions on the collar and the tag.

St John's Ambulance spokesman Elizabeth Harper said: "Working with Tesco gives us a great opportunity to help spread the incredibly important lesson of baby CPR to millions of parents.

"We hope the worst will never happen but the babygrow, and our online video, shows parents what to do in a very clear and simple way."

The babygrow will be available to pick up from Tesco stores in Ashford, Broadstairs, Gillingham and Whitstable between 9.45am and 4.30pm on Thursday.

St John Ambulance volunteers will also be performing free first aid demonstrations in baby CPR between 9.45am and 2pm at the Gillingham store.
