Charlie O'Brien Blog: 10 thoughts when you’re stuck under a sleeping baby

by Charlie O'Brien

I was planning to write something informative and thought provoking for this week’s blog … but then life happened.

And by life I mean no sleep, silent reflux, constipation and Leap 1. (Check out the Wonder Weeks app to explain your baby’s developmental leaps, which account for difficult periods see the link below)

So I’m writing this whilst stuck under my nine-week old baby Luna – who will NOT be put down for even five seconds today.

Luna having another nap - unfortunately it's on me again

So here are 10 things that go through you’re mind when you’re stuck under a clingy upset baby...

1. Why did I leave the remote the other side of the room? Again!

2. 8lb babies are heavier than they look.

3. Is it possible to burn calories while sitting down?

4. I want cake

5. I NEED cake

6. How on earth is this more comfortable for the baby than that lovely and very expensive bedside sleeper cot?

Why is the TV remote always just out of reach?

Am I thinking about eating cake too much?

7. I don’t need a wee, I don’t need a wee, I don’t need a wee …

8. I hope the Amazon delivery man doesn’t arrive in the next hour!

9. Thank goodness for box sets. What did parents do before they could binge watch their favourite shows?!

10. I’m going to try and put you down. Please let me put you down. I’m putting you down. OK just another hour or two then.

If you’re currently going through this too – you have my sympathies.
