Dreamland Margate's Frosted Fairground welcomes Waltzer ride

Amusement park favourite the Waltzer will open at Dreamland this weekend.

The park, which launches its Christmas Frosted Fairground also this Saturday (December 3), will launch the 10-car ride which has been an iconic attraction at traditional fairgrounds for more than 100 years.

Dreamland says the Waltzer will fit perfectly amongst its other 'beautifully restored' vintage rides and operates similarly to the Gallopers with the cars of the ride spinning freely while rotating around a central point.

As the cars revolve, the floor of the ride undulates over a track so that the cars rise and fall gently as the ride spins.

Alongside the Waltzer, the 10 car Austin Car Ride will be speeding its way back to Dreamland just in time for Christmas. The ride first made its appearance back in Summer 2015.

Designed for those under 1.2 metres and built in the 1950s by ex-servicemen, the Austin Cars were made as pedal cars and with the help of Littleboy’s Vintage Restorations, the ride had undergone a total restoration.

The Waltzer and Austin Cars Ride will add to all the festive fun of the fair this Christmas at The Frosted Fairground, which is running on weekends and holidays from December 3 until January 2.

It will transform Dreamland into a magical winter experience where visitors will be able to enjoy performances from choirs and community groups as well as music on the bandstand, a pop-up panto, carol singing, Teddy and Betty’s Christmas Show and more.

Santa will be returning to his grotto for the duration and there will be special story telling sessions of 'The Night Before Christmas'.

Guests can also head inside and experience Dreamland Undercover - with a yuletide skate on the Roller Disco to those Christmas classics or chance their arm at one of the retro arcade machines to win some stocking fillers.
